Special Assessment 2010 - Entrance and Parkway

The Board of Directors for Gatling Pointe Community Association, Inc. has called two Informational Meetings on May 25th and June  22nd, beginning at 7:00 pm. Additionally, a Special Meeting of the Members on July 27th for the purpose of adopting a Special Assessment. If the said Special Assessment is adopted, the community will benefit with an enhanced landscaping entrance which would also act as a deterrent to vehicle tire ruts.

The following statement from the Board of Directors reflects their approval of the proposed Special Assessment.  Please note that all Board members were in favor of this proposed Special Assessment.

“For the past decade (if not longer), the perennial concern that residents seemed to feel most strongly about was fixing the front entrance to provide an enhanced curb appeal and to reduce the amount of ruts left along the parkway.  After discussions with several entities, including VDOT, engineers, curb experts and landscaping companies, the Board has produced the only feasible plan to address the issue of continuous tire ruts. We have received bids from several contractors, and are awaiting the outcome of this Special Meeting before signing the contract.  The Board strongly and unanimously urges the owners within Gatling Pointe to approve this Special Assessment, so that the entrance to our neighborhood is more professional looking and provides a better curb appeal to our front entrance.”

See below the blueprints of the recommended changes.  The first is the front entrance. This effort is to help folks "find the entrance", especially at night.

The second one is the placement of natural plants and bushes from the entrance to the split of Gatling Porinte Parkway.

The anticipated cost of this work is approximately $25,000. The Special Assessment would be used for this project and can be made in two payments with the 3rd and 4th quarter standard fees payment.

A quorum of 79 must be meet for the July 27 meeting (the same as our annual meeting), so please take the proxy you received, complete it (appointing someone as your proxy if you are unable to attend). Remember, just as the annual meeting, if you attend the meeting of July 27, your proxy is returned to you with your ballot. If you can not locate the proxy you received, click here and print the proxy.
