Effective March 15, 2009 - Just learned of 4 incidents over the last 2 weeks that could be burglary attempts or teenage pranks.
First was 28 Feb on Winterberry Lane. A resident was awaken at about 3AM by pounding on the door. When the resident turned on a light and came downstairs to investigate, the pounding stopped. The resident saw a "work" van type vehicle driving off. The second and third incidents occurred 7 March, on Spinnaker Run, again in the early morning hours. Two resident reported loud banging on the sides of their houses. The residents did not see anyone, nor did they see a vehicle leaving the area. If something of this nature should happen to you, immediately call 911 and ask for the IOW Sheriff's Office and request a Deputy be sent to investigate. The fourth incident was a man riding a bike thru the neighborhood who clearly did not belong here. He was riding casually and looking at houses as he rode by. Whenever you see suspicious activity in the neighborhood call the IOW Sheriff's Dispatcher at 357-2151 and report it. You are not required to provide any personal information. And please report any such incidents to me and your Block Captains so we can pass on the information to the entire neighborhood. And those of you who have teenagers in the house, please to talk to them about these incidents. The concern is if these incidents are teenagers out having some "fun" they could get seriously injured by a frightened homeowner. |
